Galvanised steel is corrosion resistant, eco-friendly, durable, light weight and high in strength. During the process of galvanising, zinc reacts with steel and forms zinc-iron alloy layers. It creates an impervious barrier on the steel, thus preventing it from coming in contact with moisture and preventing corrosion.
Additionally, galvanizing enables the sheet to achieve excellent adhesion and abrasion resistance. Another shielding mechanism is zinc’s property to galvanically protect steel. When base steel is exposed to cuts, edges or scratches, the zinc coat’s corrosion protects the steel. Zinc’s electronegative properties when compared to steel in the galvanic series help achieve this protection.

Cold rolled coil known as ‘white steel’ is a type of steel product manufactured from the cold rolling process. These ‘white steels’ have significantly different types of characteristic compared to the ‘black steels’ or hot rolled coils. Cold rolled coils have better surface quality, thinner and with more precise size, and also have good mechanical property and excellent formability.
These white steels are also used for applications in the galvanizing (zinc-coating) and enamelware (porcelain-coating) industry, and are used as basic material for making tin food cans in the food and beverage industry.

Corrugated Galvanised Iron (colloquially corrugated iron or pailing (in Caribbean English), commonly abbreviated CGI) is a building material composed of sheets of hot-dip galvanised mild steel, cold-rolled to produce a linear corrugated pattern in them. The corrugations increase the bending strength of the sheet in the direction perpendicular to the corrugations, but not parallel to them. Normally each sheet is manufactured longer in its strong direction.
CGI is lightweight and easily transported. It was and still is widely used especially in rural and military buildings such as sheds and water tanks.
Galvanised corrugated sheets have earned the approval of customers everywhere finding widespread application and earning tremendous confidence and trust. Manufactured using a high-precision process, galvanised corrugated sheets are engineered to meet the specific requirements of the segments they cater to coming with a guaranteed zinc coating that offers longer life and better durability.
Applications: Barricading, Cladding, facades and roofing.
Colour coated steel or PPGI add aesthetic beauty to the strength of steel. PPGI is pre-painted galvanised iron, also known as pre-coated steel, coil coated steel, color coated steel etc., typically with a hot dip zinc coated steel substrate. PPGI refers to factory pre-painted zinc coated steel, where the steel is painted before forming, as opposed to post painting which occurs after forming. PPGI have been extensively used across a wide range of prestigious projects across the world. Typical applications include construction, white goods and automotive industries.

Hot rolled in the form of coil and plate is a type of steel product produced from hot rolling process. Plants and users of this type of steel normally call this product ‘black steel’ to differentiate it from the cold rolled commonly known as ‘white steel’. Hot rolled products are obtained via continuous casting process of rectangular shaped slabs, which are then hot rolled into various thickness ranges. They are offered either as coils or are provided in the form of sheet plates that are custom sized. Hot Rolled Coil and Sheet can fulfill wide range of market requirements like forming, bending, deep drawing, laser cutting and welding. High carbon grades are especially suited to meet challenging wear and fatigue performance.
The temperature at which hot-rolling is completed results in an oxidized strip surface. This oxide film is termed hot-mill scale. Pickling removes the hot-mill scale. Pickled strip is generally supplied oiled to preserve this surface finish.
Skin passing is a light cold rolling operation which suppresses the appearance of stretcher strain and minimizes coil break during uncoiling and subsequent processing. The surface texture and flatness are improved by skin passing.

Structural steel is steel construction material, a profile, formed with a specific shape or cross section and certain standards of chemical composition and mechanical properties. Structural steel shape, size, composition, strength, storage, etc., is regulated in most industrialized countries. Structural steel members, such as I-beams, have high second moments of area, which allow them to be very stiff in respect to their cross-sectional area.
Common structural shapes
- I-beam (I-shaped cross-section).
- Z-Shape (half a flange in opposite directions).
- HSS-Shape (Hollow structural section also known as SHS (structural hollow section) and including square, rectangular, circular (pipe) and elliptical cross sections).
- Angle (L-shaped cross-section).
- Structural channel, or C-beam, or C cross-section.
- Tee (T-shaped cross-section).
- Rail profile (asymmetrical I-beam).
- Bar, a piece of metal, rectangular cross sectioned (flat) and long.
- Rod, a round or square and long piece of metal.
- Plate, metal sheets thicker than 6 mm or 1⁄4 in.
- Open web steel joist.
Major products include thin plates and medium plates. Thin plates can be further categorised into hot and cold-rolled thin plates, galvanized plates and coil-coating plates.
- Hot-rolled thin plates are mostly used in the construction, automobile, bridge-building, machinery businesses and petroleum transportation, while cold-rolled thin plates are used in high-grade light industries, home electrical appliances, and medium and high-grade production of automobile parts.
- Galvanised plates are positioned to be used in plates of automobile, home electrical appliances, high-grade construction plates, and plates used in businesses like packaging and utensil manufacturing.
- Coil-coating plates can be used in both interior and exterior of construction projects, home electrical appliances and steel windows.
- Medium plates are widely used in boilers, pressurised utensils, ship-building, container manufacturing, and so forth.
